Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior official said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
